SUN FACTS
  • Sun protection is important for adults and essential for children - the harmful effects of UV rays are cumulative. Make sun care part of your daily routine.
  • Consumers tend to use less sunscreen product per application than is necessary to receive the claimed protection benefit. Apply protection generously and evenly to all exposed skin prior to going into the sun. A good rule of thumb is one fluid once per full body application for adults. Reduce the amount proportionately for smaller adults and children who have less body surface to cover. Reapply according to label directions.
  • Toweling off after you swim can remove a sunscreen product, diminishing the effectiveness. Always reapply after toweling.
  • Apply sunscreen 15 to 30 minutes before exposure to allow the producttime to dry and bond with the skin. Be careful of applying too far in advance. Friction of clothing, car seats, etc. may remove some of the product.
  • Use extra protection for sensitive areas like the face, shoulders, chest and lips.
  • Redness from sunburn can take up to 24 hours to show. If your skin begins to turn red, get out of the sun. The sunburn may already be worse than it appears.
  • Remember, sunscreens aren't just for a day at the beach. Use sun protection for outdoor winter activities as well.
  • The Skin Cancer Foundation recommends all Hawaiian Tropic® products 15 SPF and above as safe and effective UV sunscreens aiding in the prevention of sun-induced damage to the skin, including sunburn and possible premature aging.
  • In conclusion, remember the sun can be dangerous, but it offers warmth, natural vitamin synthesis, and it uplifts the soul. Be more informed about the ramifications of excess UV exposure and know how to protect yourself accordingly.
